Collegiate Hunts
North of the Charles River in Cambridge, lies one of the world’s most renowned universities - Massachusetts Institute of Technology. MIT is most than electrical engineering geeks and Good Will Hunting. It’s also home to the hunt that launched a thousand hunts: MIT Mystery Hunt. The hunt always begins at noon the Friday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day where participants must solve complex metapuzzles to find a “coin” located somewhere on MIT’s campus.
MIT Mystery Hunt inspired similar competitions at Microsoft, Standford University, Melbourne University, Limerick University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Windy City’s University of Chicago offers a scavenger hunt that is less mentally involved and more traditional scavenger hunt. It looks like tons of fun.
If your school or alma matter offers an organized scavenger hunt we want to know. Please email or post your findings. We look forward to hearing from you!
